Allscripts to Acquire Practice Fusion in $100M Cash Deal
Practice Fusion, utilized by small and independent physicians as an affordable EHR solution, will be acquired by Allscripts for $100M. In August, Allscripts also recently acquired McKesson Corporation’s Enterprise Information Solutions for $185M. This deal included McKesson's laboratory information system (LIS), OneContent content management system (CMS), Paragon's STAR inpatient EHR, and HealthQuest's Revenue Cycle Management (RCM).
As Allscripts grows their offerings, health law attorneys might consider the implications of preservation regarding EHR phase-outs. When EHR solutions end and new products take their place, patient health information must be either maintained in the old EHR or transferred to a new solution. These methods are varied, and attorneys must be mindful of these transitions when recovering a patient health record from an old EHR. Health information system litigation support professionals can help navigate record requests from old systems.
